KTDA incoming CEO Francis Miano
The Kenya Tea Development Agency Holdings Ltd (KTDA) has appointed Eng. Francis Miano as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer, effective January 16, 2026. This follows the departure of Wilson Muthaura, who has proceeded on terminal leave. The appointment was confirmed by the KTDA board in an official statement on Friday.
Eng. Miano, a registered professional engineer and corporate member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya, brings over 30 years of professional and managerial experience to the role. He has previously served as the Head of the Group Technical Services Division, giving him deep insight into KTDA’s operations and technical processes.
The KTDA board cited Miano’s extensive experience and institutional knowledge as crucial for ensuring a smooth leadership transition. “We are confident that Eng. Miano’s expertise will maintain continuity and strengthen our operational focus during this period,” the board said in a statement.
Wilson Muthaura, whose departure prompted the appointment, was acknowledged for his contributions to the organisation. The board expressed gratitude for his service, emphasizing his role in guiding KTDA through key strategic initiatives.
KTDA remains a central player in Kenya’s tea sector, overseeing production, processing, and marketing for hundreds of thousands of smallholder tea farmers. The appointment of Miano is expected to sustain the agency’s strategic direction and support continued growth in the country’s tea industry.
