Antony revealed he turned down a lucrative move to Bayern Munich in order to honour his agreement with Real Betis. The winger said the Bundesliga giants offered him a contract worth €7 million net per year—double his current salary—but he rejected it out of loyalty to Betis.
The Brazilian explained that he had already given his word to Betis and wanted to stay out of respect and affection for the club, adding that he feels calm and happy with the decision.
During the press conference, Antony also opened up about his struggles earlier this year when he was forced to train alone and away from Manchester United’s squad for 40 days.
Overcome with emotion, the 24-year-old broke down in tears as he described how difficult that period had been for him.
