Mike Sonko condemns harassment taxi driver by Nairobi sherehe baddies
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has condemned the violent assault on a cab driver by a group of women, describing the incident as unacceptable and deeply troubling. The attack, which was captured on video and widely shared on social media, is reported to have occurred after the driver dropped the women at their destination and requested payment for the fare.
In a public statement, Sonko questioned why a driver who had safely ferried passengers would be subjected to violence, noting that any disagreement over payment should be resolved lawfully and peacefully. He said assaulting a person earning an honest living amounts to an attack on the dignity of hardworking Kenyans.
Sonko urged police to arrest and charge the women involved, insisting that accountability must be enforced regardless of who is responsible. He emphasized that violence and destruction of property cannot be tolerated in society and called on authorities to act swiftly to deter similar incidents.
The former governor also expressed readiness to support the cab driver, describing him as a hustler whose livelihood was unfairly threatened. The incident has sparked public outrage, with many Kenyans calling for justice and stronger protection for workers in the transport sector.
