Vihiga County Governor Wilber Otichilo has revealed that key services at Vihiga County Referral Hospital have collapsed, citing prolonged breakdowns of critical medical equipment. Among the affected machines are the hospital’s dialysis units and CT scan, which have reportedly been out of service for over a year.
Governor Otichilo expressed concern over the impact on patients, noting that residents requiring essential diagnostic and treatment services are being forced to seek care outside the county. He emphasized the urgent need for intervention to restore functionality and improve healthcare delivery.
The governor urged national and county health authorities to prioritize funding and maintenance of hospital equipment to prevent further disruption and ensure that residents have access to essential medical services locally.
