Governor Laboso succumbed to Cancer on Monday 29 at the Nairobi Hospital where she had been receiving treatment. She was admitted to the ICU earlier last week on the same hospital.
The late governor is said to have ailed for some time and had left the country on May 29 to receive treatment at the Royal Madden NHS hospital in the United Kingdom. She was later transferred to India for further treatment before coming back to Nairobi Kenya.
During her time in the hospital and out of the country, Deputy Governor Hillary Barchok took over the running of Bomet county’s affairs with the assistance of County Secretary Evalyne Rono after she gave out an executive order giving the deputy governor and county secretary the full mandate to do so.
Governor Laboso’s illness had been kept off the public eye as the family rendered it a private affair.
