SIGNS TV BAGS TWO AWARDS!
It was pomp and color during the annual Communication Authority of Kenya 2019 KUZA
Awards held at the Movenpick Hotel in Nairobi on June 28 2019. The awards are meant to
recognize broadcasters in various categories such as regulatory, public choice among others.
During this year’s awards Signs TV won two trophies. This was its second participation having
started off as a broadcaster propagating social, economic, political and talent development of
persons with disabilities, broadcasting in Sign Language with voice as an override in 2017.
The awards were a recognition in Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) Innovation and Local
Content Prime Time categories.
The 2019 theme for the KUZA Awards was, ‘Reminiscing the Broadcasting Journey in Kenya.’
The voting ran from April 5 to May 5, 2019.
THIRD ANNUAL KUZA AWARDS 2019.
During the function, the Communications Authority Director General Mr.Francis Wangusi urged
Kenyans to cultivate the culture of consuming the local content and especially those in the
diaspora. “Communications Authority is gearing up to compete effectively with the new
emerging technologies to ensure our content flourish all over the world.” Added Mr.Wangusi.
The ICT and Innovation Principal Secretary Mr. Jerome Ochieng’ during his keynote address
said, “Broadcasting upholds our culture, moral values and exerts strong influence on our society
as well, the ICT works hard to ensure responsible programming, gathering, and presenting news
effectively.” He urged broadcasting stations to adapt to the technological changes to help them
cope efficiently and effectively in the industry.
The top government officials said that KUZA Awards are an indication that Kenya is in the path
to becoming a hub for information sharing within the next few years. Kudos to Signs TV
Directors, staff and the valuable viewers!
